Fire restrictions lifted in Coconino and Kaibab National Forests, Grand Canyon

Fire restrictions have been lifted in Coconino and Kaibab National Forests, as well as other public lands in Coconino County.

Kaibab officials say enough rain has fallen to increase moisture levels and reduce fire danger.

Grand Canyon National Park also has rescinded Stage 2 restrictions and will move back to stage 1. That means fires will have to remain in a designated ring within a maintained campground.

In the Coconino National Forest, the Walnut Canyon and Pumphouse Wash area closures were lifted.

Forest officials say the decision to lift the restrictions was based on the amount of precipitation received and forecast across all three forest districts.
