Arizona is receiving money as part of a settlement relating to the opioid crisis. Several pharmaceutical companies are paying for damages.
The state secured consent judgments finalizing two multistate settlements totaling $26 billion with four pharmaceutical companies for their roles in the opioid crisis.
Agreements included three major distributors: Cardinal, McKesson and AmerisourceBergen as well as Johnson & Johnson, which manufactured and marketed opioids.
Arizona will receive more than $540 million over the next 18 years from the judgments for opioid treatment, prevention and education. The state will receive an additional $10 million for handling the case.
