The Pima County Attorney’s Office is siding with Planned Parenthood in a lawsuit against Attorney General Mark Brnovich who claims a pre-statehood law that bans most abortions was enforceable.
In legal filings, Planned Parenthood has claimed that there have been multiple laws passed in Arizona that have provided protections for abortions.
Pima County Attorney Laura Conover told Capitol Media Services that the organization's arguments were persuasive.
"I certainly think that a great deal of statutory legislative work and case law has occurred in the 50 years since. So the landscape has changed," Conover said.
Brnovich is attempting to lift a Pima County injunction that prevents the pre-statehood law from being enforced.
