Arizona continued to post gains in solar industry jobs in 2021

A nonprofit has issued a report on job growth created by solar energy in 2021 and says that Arizona continued to post new jobs in the industry.

The state added nearly a thousand solar-based jobs in 2021. Nationwide, the industry posted record gains driven by interest from businesses, municipalities, utilities and residential customers.

The report said that the field has more than doubled in the last decade, a trend that is likely to continue as costs go down and demand rises.

“So the potential to grow the number of jobs is really great, especially in a state like Arizona that has really large solar resources,” said Larry Sherwood of the Interstate Renewable Energy Council.

California led the nation in solar energy job growth, while Arizona was ranked sixth.
