A federal Office of Supply Chain could prevent future shortages

The notion of the supply chain wasn’t typically one that was talked about by anyone who’s not an economist or in a business directly affected by it. The pandemic changed all of that.

When shelves at supermarkets were empty and some of us feared toilet paper shortages, a lot of that came down to the supply chain. Now on a more international level, the war Russia started with Ukraine has also impacted which products are making their way to the U.S. and how much they cost.

Would the problem be any less dramatic if our federal government had an Office of Supply Chain? Iowa State professor of supply chain management Mike Crum thinks so.

The Show with Crum about a report he co-conducted that prioritized the possibility of that new department.
