This week, the Biden administration launched a new website, heat.gov, that aims to provide awareness of heat advisories and dangers around the country.
The aim is to mitigate heat-related illness and death by spreading information about high temperatures.
That includes maps containing heat islands in towns and cities, warnings and watches and extreme temperature forecasts.
There were nearly 340 heat-related deaths in Maricopa County alone last year. Those spanned from early April until late November.
State climatologist Erinanne Saffell says while the tool is very helpful, it has some areas for improvement.
“Some of the information that is being portrayed, it is still a bit challenging to look at some of those tools. And so as we move forward trying to make those tools a little more understandable I think would be helpful.” Saffell said.
