A group of conservationists has asked Arizona’s Senate delegation to back the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
The state’s lawmakers could play a major role in its passage.
The bill addresses a wide range of issues, such as corporate tax reform and prescription drug prices.
It also calls for investment in clean energy, lower methane emissions and a greenhouse gas reduction fund.
An earlier bill with many of the same provisions stalled in the Senate, in part because it failed to gain the support of Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.
“It’s obviously not a perfect bill, but it is, on balance, a good bill and a very good bill for Arizona,” said Sandy Bahr of the Sierra Club.
She said the bill could pave the way to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030.
