How COVID-19 and monkeypox have revealed racial inequities in health care

The height of the pandemic revealed a number of inequities that communities deal with on a regular basis. One of them — understandably because we were in the midst of a virus outbreak — is the differences many people of color face in receiving health care and having their needs taken as seriously.

Now we’re seeing some of the same concerns related to monkeypox and perceptions of who is most susceptible to getting the illness.

Margo Snipe is a health reporter for Capital B and has been looking into racial inequities around COVID-19 and monkeypox. The Show spoke with her to learn about her findings.
