Millennial and Gen Z workers are talking about their salaries, and boomers are missing out

There are a few topics we’re told not to discuss in polite conversation: religion, politics and money.

As part of the “money” category, asking about someone else’s salary or talking about your own is considered to be unacceptable. But that may be changing.

According to Bankrate, at least 40% of millennials and Gen Z workers have shared their salary information with fellow professionals. That’s about twice as high as the percentage of baby boomers.

Benjamin Fong is associate director of Arizona State University's Center for Work and Democracy.

The Show spoke with him, and Fong began by explaining how the trends of salary discussion are changing.
