A new find deep under the ocean could help us understand what killed the dinosaurs

A new discovery at the bottom of the ocean has some scientists taking a closer look at how dinosaurs were wiped off the planet.

A new asteroid impact crater found in the north Atlantic Ocean could be from around the same time as the Chicxulub asteroid impact; that’s what’s thought to have led to dinosaurs’ extinction.

The Nadir crater is more than 1,000 feet below the seabed off the coast of Africa.

Veronica Bray is a research scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona where she studies impact craters; she’s also the co-author of a study detailing the find.

The Show spoke with her and asked how her findings with this asteroid relate to the demise of the dinosaurs.
