Arizona sees high turnout in primary election

As Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has certified the results of the primary election, she says voter turnout is higher than previous midterms.

Hobbs says that more than 1.5 million people in the state cast a ballot, marking a voter turnout of about 35%.

"This is a 20% increase since the 2018 midterm election, and a 66% increase since the 2014 midterm election." Hobbs said.

The vast majority of voters used early ballots to cast their votes, about 85%. Hobbs is running for governor.
