The media landscape has been experiencing dramatic changes in recent years as the daily newspaper’s power has waned and more and more smaller outlets have emerged to focus on specific issues or narrower beats.
Some are multimedia with a combination of print reporting and podcasts.
One that is changing how news is covered in Detroit hopes to be a pioneer of sorts and see its model be a guide for other markets. It’s called Outlier Media and is led by former public media journalist Sarah Alvarez. The Show spoke with her to learn about the goals of Outlier Media.
