Free government program for home COVID-19 tests will be suspended Friday

If you want to order free at-home COVID-19 tests from the federal government, you have just a few days left to get your request in.

Since Congress has not approved additional funding for COVID-19 test stockpiling and distribution, the White House says it will stop taking orders for free deliveries this Friday.

COVID-19 cases have  recently been falling in Arizona and nationwide, but the virus is still spreading. Arizona’s health department has recently tracked more than 1,000 cases per day.

The White House says it anticipates cases will rise again in the fall and winter, so it is keeping some of its tests in reserve for distribution later this year.

Until online ordering ends Friday, U.S. households can claim up to 16 tests each at  covidtests.gov.
