A pipe organ fuels obsession in Gabriele Fabbro's 'The Grand Bolero'

The largest symphonic organ in Europe, a harsh COVID-19 lockdown, a queer love story. What else could anyone ask for from an award-winning indie film?

And on top of all of that, Italian director Gabriele Fabbro says that “The Grand Bolero” is the first fictional film that centers on a pipe organ.

It’s screening Sept. 4 at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix — complete with an organ performance of its own.

The Show spoke with Fabbro to learn how the pipe organ inspired the tale of obsession.
