'The Street Project' documentary highlights dangers for Phoenix pedestrians

Phoenix had one of the highest pedestrian fatality rates in the country in 2020 and consistently ranks as one of the most dangerous cities in the country for pedestrians as well as cyclists.

" The Street Project" focuses on both safe and dangerous cities for pedestrians and cyclists around the world.

Phoenix is provided as an example of the latter, as the city annually is near the top of the country for its pedestrian fatality rate.

The film delves into the history of street use and its changes over the years, including the impact of the automobile. It also features interviews with Valley-based pedestrian activists.

Phoenix will host a one-night screening of the documentary. The ticketed event is at the Arizona Center on Sept. 8.

The documentary is also began streaming on Amazon Prime on Aug. 25
