Sedona has a housing problem: not enough affordable places for workers and residents to live.
The city also has a lot of short-term rental properties, which is reducing the number of available options. So officials have come up with a way to try to deal with this: offering the owners of short-term rentals money to turn them into long-term rentals.
Sedona is offering between $3,000 and $10,000 per year lease; the amount depends on the size of the house. And the program caps the monthly rent landlords can charge at $2,200 per month.
The city has set aside $240,000 for the program and will hand out the money as long as it lasts.
