The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for parts of southern Arizona as more remnants of Tropical Storm Kay send ripple effects into Arizona, California and Nevada.
A flash flood warning in place Monday afternoon for parts of southwestern Arizona was expected to last until the evening. The agency also said a more general flood watch was in place until early Tuesday morning for large swaths of Santa Cruz County and Pima County.
The warning said urban areas like Tucson, Bisbee, Vail and Nogales — as well as wilderness zones like the Santa Cruz River Valley and the Baboquivari Mountains — could be affected with heavy rainfall and flooding.
Areas near Tucson were coated with more than three inches of rain over the weekend along with large plumes of dust. Clearer skies are expected by Tuesday.
