When the COVID-19 vaccine was first rolled out for adults, it seemed like you could get it everywhere. State Farm Stadium’s parking lot was turned into a massive drive-through clinic, and it seemed every doctor’s office and pharmacy was offering a jab to anyone who wanted one.
But by the time the vaccine was available to kids, that rollout looked very different.
Parents have had to look for a place to administer the shot, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report just 7% of children between 2 and 4 years old have been vaccinated, and only 4% under 2. That rate goes up to about 30% for kids up to age 11.
To learn why the vaccine is so hard to find and how parents can get it, The Show spoke with Will Humble, executive director for the Arizona Public Health Association.
