Community leaders in Tucson hosted an online meeting this week on emergency preparedness as climate change forces cities to address and plan for natural disasters.
The event marks September as National Preparedness Month.
It featured representatives from places like the Pima County office of Emergency Management and the county health department, there to discuss extreme heat, wildfires and other disasters the community will continue to face in the coming years.
It was the latest event in a monthly program from Sustainable Tucson, which brings together local experts to discuss climate crises affecting Tucson and other Arizona areas.
Previous events have addressed groundwater contamination and waste incineration.
