Flagstaff receives federal funding for infrastructure and pedestrian projects

The city of Flagstaff is receiving $32.5 million from the federal government as part of the Downtown Mile project to invest into pedestrian safety and infrastructure.

With funding coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Package, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg says the project will serve positive goals for the city.

“It’s building underpasses that allow residents to move more safely, to more efficiently drive, walk or bike to downtown businesses and services, and it benefits freight movements,” he says.

The city will also provide $15 million to the project, and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway will give $11 million.
