Following a pilot program that started in August last year, updates will be coming to new driver tests at the Motor Vehicle Division.
Starting Thursday, drivers will be asked to provide proof of insurance and registration before they get on the road.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says it is to ensure each driver knows what documents are required in every vehicle and where they are located.
A brief inspection of the vehicle, including of tires and turn signal lights, will then follow to ensure proper maintenance and operation on public roads. The test will have to be rescheduled if the car doesn’t meet the standards or if the driver doesn’t have insurance or registration.
The driver will also be asked to demonstrate how to use and locate features such as emergency brakes, hazard lights and high beams.
