Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport will receive $194 million from the federal government to help create a second 2,000-foot taxiway to increase capacity.
Currently the airport has three runways and only one taxiway. A second taxiway will improve efficiency when flying out of Sky Harbor. The taxiway will be on the west side of the airport connecting the north and south airfields.
Funding for the project comes from President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, which took effect in November of last year.
Construction is expected to begin in 2023.
