Why it's cheaper to see pro sports in Phoenix than in other cities

Valley sports fans are shelling out less money to see their teams in person than fans in other cities.

Data compiled in 2021 by Tennessee's TN Bets analyzed how much it cost for a ticket, parking, hot dog and two beers around the different sports leagues during the 2019-2020 season and found the Diamondbacks had the least expensive stadium experience in MLB. The Cardinals were the third cheapest in the NFL, and the Coyotes were the fifth least expensive in the NHL. Meanwhile, the Suns were closer to the middle of the NBA pack.

Dan Marburger is a clinical professor of economics at Arizona State University.

The Show spoke with him to learn what he makes of the fact that Phoenix-based pro sports teams seem to be among the least expensive to go watch in person.
