Man arrested in UA shooting has history of threatening staff

More information has been released about the man arrested in the fatal shooting of a University of Arizona professor on Wednesday.

The alleged gunman, Murad Dervish, has a history of harassment on the campus.

A Pima County Superior Court document said the 46-year-old former grad student was expelled from UA in February.

Dervish was the subject of several reports of harassment and threats to staff members in the building where  Professor Thomas Meixner was shot and killed Wednesday. Dervish had been barred from UA property, and someone called 911 shortly before the shooting to report him on campus.

After his arrest, Dervish said "I just felt so disrespected by that whole department."

Dervish was the subject of an unrelated order of protection, which prohibited him from having a gun.
