The two candidates for Arizona’s governor have been campaigning nonstop for several weeks. On Sunday, they made separate appearances on CBS’s “Face the Nation” where they discussed top voter issues such as abortion rights.
Republican candidate Kari Lake affirmed that she would govern in accordance with the 15-week ban passed by state legislators.
"I am going to be the executive of the state, the chief executive officer, and I will follow the law. The law right now, as it stands, is Governor Ducey’s law at 15 weeks. I will follow the law," she said.
Lake also claimed her opponent would support late-term abortions. But Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs said such a claim was made to “distract.”
"A doctor’s not gonna perform an abortion late in a pregnancy just cause somebody decided they want one. That is ridiculous, and she’s saying this to distract from her incredibly extreme position," she said.
Hobbs clarified she supports “leaving the decision between a woman and her doctor and leaving politicians entirely out of it.”
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
