Arizona candidates for governor appear on CNN's 'State of the Union'

With mail-in voting for the general election underway, Arizona’s gubernatorial candidates appeared separately on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Republican candidate Kari Lake said she would introduce a plan that gets rid of certain taxes in order to tackle inflation in Arizona, which is the highest in the country.

“That’s why I unveiled a plan last week to put half a billion dollars back into the hard working Arizonans’ pockets by getting rid of our rental tax and our tax on groceries here in Arizona,” she said.

For her part, Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs blamed the state’s housing costs.

“Inflation in Arizona is being largely driven by skyrocketing housing costs, and we have to do more about housing. We need to build more, bottom line,” she said.
