Mexico president hopes to discuss clean energy projects with U.S. climate envoy in Sonora

U.S. climate envoy John Kerry is expected to visit Sonora soon.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Kerry will be visiting Sonora later this month, either in the capital Hermosillo or in Rocky Point, where one of the largest solar energy installations in the world is under construction.

Lopez Obrador says he hopes several additional installations will be built in the state, famous for its potent sun.

AMLO, as he is widely known, also says he’d like to discuss the nationalization and exploitation of lithium resources in the country, and ambitions to build batteries and electric vehicles in Sonora.
