Independents continue to have the highest active voting percentage in Maricopa County at 842,140 voters, making up 34.6% of the population.
Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer says that is a higher percentage compared to most other metropolitan areas. He added that is only about 1,280 more than Republicans at 840,860 , leaving them only a tenth of a percent behind.
Democrats are further behind still, having 731,427.
