We often assume young people have a sense of invincibility — that anything is possible, and those possibilities cannot be derailed by illness.

But for lots of young adults, reality is very different.

Fortesa Latifi says disabled and chronically ill people are often underrepresented in mass media — even more so when they’re young. So, Latifi, a features reporter at Teen Vogue, writes about them.

The Show spoke with her to learn more about her work. She talked about the people she profiles and how many of them have illnesses that are not necessarily apparent when you look at them.
