President Joe Biden says the U.S. is continuing to negotiate the release of Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner from Russian custody. This was after a Moscow court rejected an appeal of Griner’s nine-year sentence on drug charges.
“We’re in constant contact with the Russian authorities to get Brittney and others out. And so far we’ve not been meeting with much positive response, but we’re not stopping," Biden said.
The Kremlin is keeping the door open for talks on a possible prisoner swap but said Wednesday that any discussions must be strictly confidential.
