Kari Lake makes joke about Paul Pelosi attack at campaign event in Scottsdale

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, is reportedly making steady progress on his recovery after being attacked Friday.

Nancy Pelosi said she has received thousands of messages conveying concern. Still some have made light of the event.

When asked about plans for school safety at a Monday campaign event in Scottsdale, Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake made a comment that was met with laughter from the crowd.

"It is not impossible to protect our kids at school, they pretend like it is. Nancy Pelosi, well, she’s got protection while she’s in D.C. Apparently her house doesn’t have a lot of protection," Lake said.

Authorities say the suspect 42-year-old David DePape told police he planned to take Nancy Pelosi hostage and break her kneecaps.
