These Phoenix police tips could keep porch pirates away from your holiday deliveries

As the holiday season approaches, more online shoppers will begin to make purchases to be delivered to their homes. But items left on porches are vulnerable to being stolen.

Phoenix police Sgt. Brian Bower suggests video monitoring devices to capture these porch pirates.

“Having that surveillance camera at the door that notifies you when your package is delivered is a great resource for you as a homeowner receiving those packages but also for our detectives that work on the follow-up investigation for certain types of crimes,” he said.

Bower also recommends people who may be away to ask neighbors or relatives to keep a close eye on their packages.

Companies can even make their delivery people hide items in certain areas away from others’ eyes.
