Next week, entrepreneurs in the Sonoran capital Hermosillo will be developing sustainable solutions for businesses in the city looking to reduce their environmental impact.
The Green Hackathon is a chance for teams of students and professionals to develop sustainable projects that will help businesses address climate change.
Omar Gutierrez, who leads Hermosillo’s Entrepreneurship Center, says the event will last 54 hours. During that time, up to 70 participants will work in teams of six to eight people to find solutions to six sustainability challenges.
Those include increasing industrial energy efficiency, making urban transportation more sustainable and reducing the costs of water treatment.
Teams will present their projects to a panel of judges made up of local businesspeople.
The Green Hackathon is set to take place in Hermosillo from Nov. 15 to 17. Organizers say the event is open to participants from both Sonora and Arizona.
Those interested are asked to send an email to [email protected], with the participants names, ages and areas of interest or project idea.
