Ballot counting in Arizona continues as many races are still too close to call

As of Thursday night, there were more than half a million ballots left to count across Arizona, including roughly 320,000 in Maricopa County. And while the suspense of close races may be agonizing, the wait for votes to be counted is nothing out of the ordinary.

Maricopa County election workers are still on track to finish counting hundreds of thousands of ballots at the same pace they usually do.

Fields Moseley is a county spokesman.

"It's between 10 and 12 days, and it has been for at least the past decade," said Moseley.

County officials could count roughly 70,000 to 80,000 ballots a day until their work is complete.

They vowed that work will continue through the Veterans Day holiday and the weekend.

KJZZ News relies on the Associated Press to do the math necessary to declare a winner in individual races.

The AP typically calls races before all ballots are counted. But so far, most statewide races remain too close to call.
