Dengue cases continue to mount in Sonora

Dengue cases continue to steadily rise in neighboring Sonora.

It added another 197 cases of the serious mosquito-borne viral infection, bringing the confirmed total to 1,778, according to the most recent weekly state  report.

Federal  datashow that Sonora has both the highest number of cases nationwide, and far and away the highest incidence rate, nearly twice that of runner-up Tabasco.

Colonial Alamos, a popular tourist destination and home to a significant expatriate community, has been among the most impacted by the Sonoran outbreak. However, state data show cases declining substantially there in recent weeks. Communities near Sonora’s southern border with Sinaloa remain the most impacted.
