More Arizonans are getting the flu this season. What's behind it, and how to take precautions

We are a little over a month into flu season, and cases of the virus as well as RSV are jumping well past seasonal averages.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, the state has seen over 1,000 confirmed influenza cases, good for a 487% increase compared to a typical season. And RSV infections are skyrocketing even further past seasonal averages, with over 2,500 confirmed cases so far.

To learn what's triggering the increase, The Show spoke with Will Humble, the executive director of the Arizona Public Health Association.
