Cochise County requests court to compel its elections director to expand hand count audit

The Cochise County Board of Supervisors is asking a judge to order its elections director to expand its hand-count of ballots cast in the election.

On Nov. 7, a court ruled against the county attempting to conduct a full hand-count audit of all ballots. That is not permitted under Arizona law.

Though that ruling did not preclude the county from expanding its hand-count, as long as it wasn’t all ballots.

The board is requesting a judge to compel the county’s Elections Director Lisa Marra to conduct an expanded hand-count of 16 out of the 17 precincts, or hand them over to the Cochise recorder.

The expansion of the audit comes from unfounded conspiracies sowing distrust in voting machines.

Results have shown Republican candidates such as Kari Lake and Blake Masters have led their respective races in the county.
