Nov. 15 marked a year since President Joe Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act into law. Some money is now being put toward construction projects at border ports of entry.
The General Services Administration, which manages many of the country’s ports of entry, says it will use more than $3 billion in federal funding from the infrastructure law to modernize 26 different ports of entry.
That includes three along the Arizona-Sonora border. One project will make improvements to the port in San Luis. The other two Arizona projects are both in Douglas — one will rebuild existing buildings at the Raul Hector Castro Land Port of Entry, another will build a new dedicated commercial port of entry.
The GSA says all 26 projects are already underway in various stages.
