The parent company of Dodge and Chrysler has issued a stop-drive order for approximately 276,000 cars from 2005 through 2010 over airbag problems.
Those airbags made by Takata degrade over time, and can cause sharp metal pieces to fly toward drivers and passengers within the vehicle if it goes off.
The stop drive affects Dodge Magnum station wagons, Dodge Challenger coupes and Dodge Chargers.
The parent company Stellantis spokesperson Chris Freeman says these repairs can be done for free, but owners shouldn’t drive them.
"We will either tow the vehicle, make arrangements to tow the vehicle to the dealer for repair. Or the dealer can also send people to the owner’s home to do the repair," Freeman said.
Takata filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by Key Safety Systems in 2018.
Freeman said people affected can call 833-585-0144 to set up the repair.
