Mesa police seize nearly 715,000 fentanyl pills in drug bust

Earlier this month, the Mesa Police Department made one of the largest fentanyl pill drug busts in the department’s history. The discovery of these pills occurred as officials from the Street Crime Units seized several illegal drugs from two unrelated drug bust cases.

Detective Richard Encinas is with the police department.

“We were estimating it to be about $4.5 million in street value, but more importantly, it was 715,000 fentanyl pills,” he said.

Four suspects were arrested. Other items discovered include methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine.
