NAU professor confirmed dead after Rocky Point kayaking trip; her husband is still missing

A Northern Arizona University professor has been confirmed dead after her body was found near Puerto Peñasco in Mexico.

A family member of forestry professor Yeon-Su Kim confirmed it was her body that was found Sunday afternoon after she and her spouse, Corey Allen, had gone missing near Rocky Point.

Allen is still missing and search efforts are ongoing. The couple along with their teenage daughter had reportedly been kayaking when strong winds picked up over the water.

Their daughter was able to get back to shore, however the couple was unable to make their way to land. The civil protection agency of Sonora is coordinating search and rescue efforts with municipal authorities.
