Pima County Public Health director advises to mask up as cases of respiratory diseases rise

Health officials are warning that RSV, flu and COVID-19 are all on the rise.

Pima County Public Health Director Dr. Theresa Cullen says it’s not surprising because people are returning to pre-pandemic normalcy, which means less mask wearing.

“I think people need to make their own decision about whether to mask or not, however remember these are respiratory diseases and we know that masking can help protect you as well as protect others," Cullen said.

The latest Arizona Department of Health Services report shows that when compared to a typical year, Influenza and RSV cases are up more than 1,000%.
