Phoenix will hold a runoff election in March to fill two City Council seats because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote.
In District 6, which covers Ahwatukee, Arcadia, Biltmore and north Central, current councilman Sal Diciccio is termed out. His former chief of staff Sam Stone will face retired Phoenix police officer Kevin Robinson. Unofficial results show Robinson received 20% of the vote, while Stone got 17%. Candidates Moses Sanchez and Joan Greene each received 16%.
In District 8, which includes south Phoenix and parts of downtown and east Phoenix, current councilmember Carlos Garcia received 40% of the vote. He’ll face challenger Kesha Hodge Washington, who got 38%.
The City Council will canvass the votes on Dec. 7, making them official. The election will take place on March 14, 2023.
Two other council seats were decided on the November 2022 ballot.
In District 2, incumbent Jim Waring received 53% of the vote and his nearest challenger received 30%. In District 4, current Vice Mayor Laura Pastor ran unopposed.
