Former Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Chucri said he was disturbed by transcripts of comments expressed during the county’s election canvass meeting held Monday.
Angry protesters voiced strong opinions about the unfounded lack of vote counting integrity. At least one called the current board of supervisors “ traitors to the United States Constitution.”
Chucri, who is president of the Arizona Restaurant Association, hopes for better days in the near future.
“I hope that we can come to a healing process as a community and support those people who were elected and get the 2020 election and now the 2022 election behind us and let’s look forward to the positive days ahead,” he said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 14 of 15 Arizona counties have certified the election. In violation of state law, Cochise County still has not.
On Monday, Secretary of State and Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs asked a judge to order officials in that county to do so.
