Two Scottsdale schools were put on lockdown Friday morning after a student reported seeing someone with a gun.
A school resource officer at Cactus Shadows High School contacted the Scottsdale Police Department on Friday morning, after a student reported seeing a school-aged male enter campus with what looked like a revolver. The high school and nearby Black Mountain Elementary School were put on lockdown.
Police spokesman Aaron Bolin said officers searched the high school for tow hours and reviewed camera footage, but didn’t find anyone matching the description.
“That could be because of different reasons," he said. "It could be because the cameras were not at the right angle or just not capturing the right area of footage, which is why the investigation is still ongoing.”
The campus was cleared and parents were allowed to pick their students up from school. This comes after police on Thursday arrested a 17-year-old boy who they say fired a gun at officers on Arizona State University's Tempe campus. No one was hurt.
