'Anthropology of Star Trek' class teaches NAU students much more than sci-fi

A lucky class of students at Northern Arizona University is taking an anthropology course through an interesting lens: "Star Trek."

Postdoctoral scholar Justin Lund proposed the new class — called the Anthropology of Star Trek — expecting incredulous faces, but was met with nothing but enthusiasm from NAU faculty. And that has only continued with his students.

And it’s personal for Lund, who said he grew up watching "Star Trek" with his dad, who also used the series to understand some of the cultural divides in his own life.

The Show spoke with Lund to learn more about the links between "Star Trek" and anthropology.
