The Arizona Humane Society is waiving its adoption fees through Sunday to encourage adoptions amid overcrowding.
The society's spokesperson Kelsey Dickerson says about 1,100 animals are currently in their care, and potential families should put in the work before adopting.
“You want to make sure that you’re doing the research, you're having the proper conversations, you’re thinking about everything that goes into it including the resources of time, space, money, as well as any behavioral or medical concerns that these pets may have," Dickerson said.
She says the pets are already spayed, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and come with a free bag of pet food.
