Tempe-based company ordered to pay $2.6M in wages and damages to employees

A Tempe-based construction contractor has entered into arbitration with the U.S. Department of Labor and will honor a consent agreement by a federal judge to pay over $2.6 million to members of its past and present workforce.

Valley Wide Plastering, Inc. admitted to violating portions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and maintaining false records regarding their employees’ work hours and pay rates.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona entered a consent judgment stating the company would give affected current and former employees any back pay that’s due.

The judgment also states the company is subject to further consequences if it fails to honor the ruling. Any past and present employees can contact the Labor department’s Wage and Hour Division to see if they are owed money.
