Grand Canyon University is once again freezing tuition costs on its Phoenix campus. The school hasn’t raised that amount since 2008.
For the 2023 school year, the private Christian university’s tuition will be $16,500. In a press release Tuesday, the school said more than 90% of GCU students qualified for institutional scholarships in 2022. That means the average tuition cost is about $9,200.
Since 2008, the average in-state tuition and fees at four-year private institutions has risen about 56%. That’s according to data from the College Board’s Trends in College Pricing and Student Aid Report.
In a statement, GCU President Brian Mueller said the college experience should not be negatively impacted by the prospect of taking on large amounts of debt.
