The Arizona Cardinals dismissed assistant coach Sean Kugler in November after he allegedly groped a woman in Mexico City prior to the Cardinals’ game against the San Francisco 49ers. However, a request for arbitration has now been filed stating the allegation is untrue.
Kugler’s team of lawyers filed the request. Lawyer Michael Petitti said the claims had damaged Kugler’s name and that of his family and that they had been wanting to understand what led to the coach’s termination.
The firm explained the Cardinals dismissed the offensive line coach without conducting a proper investigation or interview with him.
In response to the allegations, Kugler also said he would cooperate with the Cardinals and other entities to clear his name. He raised the possibility the case could arise from “miscommunication or mistaken identity.”
